Opened in 2013, The Yard hosts one of the most popular restaurant establishments in Phoenix, Culinary Dropout. With 9,500 square feet of interior restaurant and retail space including one of Phoenix’s largest outdoor dining patios and expansive shaded outdoor common area, The Yard is a truly one-of-a kind dining experience.
Working with an existing 1950′s building, which had previously been among other things a motorcycle dealership, the design focused on opening up the existing masonry walls to seamlessly blend the indoor and outdoor spaces. Tenants include Culinary Dropout, Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend, and Lola Coffee. The beginning of the The Yard experience is an indoor breezeway leading past Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend into Culinary dropout which boasts an indoor/outdoor bar, open kitchen and inviting dining room. Through the efforts of designer, Mike Rumpeltin, Culinary Dropout accentuates its open space while creating cozy atmospheres throughout.
Another gem designed under the guidance of Mike Rumpeltin in the Yard is Little Cleo’s Seafood Legend. Arguably one of the best seafood restaurants in Arizona, the experience of Little Cleo’s is like no other. The polished white subway tiles, brass fixtures and mosaic floor tiles create the perfect backdrop for the oyster bar and classic seafood house dining spaces. Also, for when the weather cools off, the entire west wall opens to further accentuate the indoor/outdoor vibe of The Yard. The Yard’s Logo was designed by Tom Martin of Twin Engine. Landscape was designed by Logan Simpson.
