Phoenix, AZ
Vital Stats
Opened: 2013
Owned: Z’Tejas
Size: +/- 4,000 SF
Team: Brick & West Design, PK Associates, MSA Consulting Engineers, SherCon
Completed in 2013, Taco Guild was, like Little Cleo’s, a first-of-a-kind restaurant for restaurant group Z’Tejas. Part of the Old School O7 redevelopment for Wetta Ventures, the project involved the renovation of a 1940′s church building into a one-of-a-kind Mexican gastropub.. The space includes a massive industrial bar, a hugs orbital chandelier and custom artwork. The church’s exposed wood ceilings are prominently featured in the design, along with polished concrete floors and the original stained-glass windows. Historical objects found by the design team during the renovation of the church building were incorporated into interior displays, celebrating the local history and reinforcing the restaurant’s connection to the community.
What people are saying: ‘The atmosphere is so cool with the stained glass windows and mural on the wall’ ‘The building alone is worth the trip’ ‘there was a lot of meticulous thought put into this entire concept’
‘…this Phoenix taqueria promises a near-spiritual experience’ – Travel + Leisure
